Sacraments

First Eucharist:

Christ feeds us Himself through Bread and Wine to give us a deepened relationship with him...

First Communion will be celebrated on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM.  This program will be explained to parents of second grade students registered in the Religious Education program.  All parents will be notified by mail.  Parents are required to attend this First Communion Meeting. Please keep these children in your prayers.

Reconciliation:

Christ heals the wounds of sin through our sorrow for sin and the spoken word of absolution...

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available on Saturdays from 3:15-3:45 in the Church or at the Rectory by request. Children in Grades 2 participate in reconciliation services on specific dates in their respective Religious Education programs.

Anointing of the Sick:

The Catholic sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, formally known as Last Rites, or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical but also for mental and spiritual sickness.  Please contact the Rectory Office when needed.

Confirmation:

Christ strengthens the Spirit through Anointing with the oil of Chrism and the laying on of hands...

Confirmation for our high school students is held on September 24th at the 2PM Mass.

Students must have completed 2 years in our Confirmation Preparation Program to be eligible for that confirmation date.  Please consult the Religious Education calendar for classes, dates, and times.   The RCIA candidates are confirmed at the Easter Vigil Mass. Practice for all Confirmation candidates and their sponsors is at the 10:30AM Mass on September 10th.  Rehearsal will take place immediately after Mass.  Candidates and their sponsors will meet in the Parish Hall at 1:15 on September 24th prior to Confirmation.

Marriage:

Christ unites a man and a woman to create a circle of love for each other, for future generations and for His Church...

Couples who are planning a marriage should call the Rectory and provide the secretary with the planned date of the wedding along with other pertinent information.  Eight months before the wedding the couple should call the Rectory to make an appointment with the Priest or Deacon who will be performing the ceremony.  A marriage preparation class is a requirement before marriage and may be taken at the bride and groom’s convenience by going on the RCAB website which is www.rcab.org. The website lists the times and places where the Pre-Cana classes are offered.  A certificate is issued upon completion of the classes.

Please contact the Parish office eight (8) months in advance to schedule and discuss preparation requirements.

Baptisms:

Christ gives new life through water...

Please contact Irene at the church Rectory if you are interested or need more information at 781-593-2544.  Please give your child’s name, date of birth and other information to the parish secretary as well as the date you are requesting so that a Baptismal Certificate may be made up for your child.  It is also necessary to attend a Pre-Baptism class.  The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the last Sunday of every month at 12 Noon at St. John's.  Under special circumstances you may request to have your personal priest confer the sacrament.
